They both have a 3/4" gap when up (and sometimes 1") but the hinges are clean and well oiled, plus we don't have a rust problem here in California.

The motors contain hall effect sensors that give feedback to the control module which controls deployment. If there are no mechanical issues with the brackets then you need to diagnose the module. From another thread I believe you said you had a Factory Service Manual (FSM). Hope that helps! :)

Thanks, the brackets are fine and well lubed so I will look into that (sounds complicated and expensive)
