Hey gang, I need some quick help here..

Working on my 98 Expedition 4x4 XLT. (267k miles)
I'm trying to track down why my rear wiper motor is not working. I just replaced the motor, but realized the relays might not be working. For some reason, neither of my service manuals tell me where these relays are. My relay panel does not match what they show in the books. I've checked the fuse power going to the relays and its good.

Can someone tell me which are the two rear wiper relays in the attached photo?

My 01 Expedition's rear wiper didn't work until I replaced one of those mini-fuses at the bottom left corner of the picture. I believe my box is different than yours.. Check those out. That might be your answer.

yeah, the 10a supplies power, and that fuse was good. So now I'm looking into the relays. Thanks!

I find this very strange that there is no info on these relays. I even called my local ford dealer and all they said was it should be in the book. lol
I tried to explain again what I was talking about, but got no where in the end.

Just in case (you probably know this) ... There is a well documented problem of the bushing through the window freezing up. Can you rotate the wiper easily by hand with liftgate window open?

Hey there. This is a new motor, and the old one did not appear to be stuck when I pulled it out. The bushing going through the tailgate seemed fine. When I turn on the wiper, I hear no relay noise up in the bay. But the fuse supply power to the relays is good.
The Ford guy suggested I take one of the known good relays of the same type (there are several) and swap it one at a time to see if I can get it to work.

Just wanted to follow up on this thread in case someone else is looking for this. I was not able to find any information online or from the dealer about these additional relays. However, my rear wiper problem turned out to be an issue with the multi switch (turn signal stalk). The green wire had pulled away from the connector leaving pin 7 open. I was able to solder a lead on the tab and attach it inside the turn signal arm (there is a access panel on the back of the stalk). Once I did that, the rear wiper/wash controls started working again.
Anyway, once that was done, I listened to the relays as the motor was operating. See the picture below for the rear wiper up/down relay location. Hope this helps someone.

I've replaced the motor on my rear wiper twice. The first one had some broken sprockets on the wheel. the second one installed fine and worked for about 10 trips before it quit. If I stand at the wiper motor and manually lift it up until something catches, it goes up and works until i shut the rear lift gate. then it doesn't work anymore until i manually lift it up again.

Sounds like you might not have enough tension when you installed it maybe. When you put the arm on the new motor, it is supposed to be an inch to inch and a half below the stop block. Once it cycles once, it will park in the correct location with the proper tension.
