I really miss the Gear Shift Lever

Next Ford will put the shifter in the touch screen. Then, when it's 5°F, the screen freezes just as you're ready back into a parking spot in a Costco parking lot when everyone is trying to buy TP.

I have the column shifter on my 94 Blazer, my 2010 Sierra. Had the console shifter in my 17 F150.. I'm not a fan of the knob either.. I would prefer it back..

I’m use to it now and don’t mind it. But I wish they could have used some of the space to make the phone and USB cubby big enough for man sized hands.

I thought I’d hate it. Turns out it’s been fine and easier to switch back and forth in tight parking. Just like an old school key, I’m dont want to go back to the old way again.

What if the rotary knob were on the dashboard, beside the start button? Or how about on the side of the steering column where the old column shifter used to be? A raised bump could be placed on the knob so you could have some tactile feedback as to where the knob was. Perhaps a knob for PNDR, then paddle shifters for other gears?

The lack of feedback from the shift knob is annoying when going from forward to reverse multiple times or quickly. At least with a gear shift, I know where reverse and drive were and there was a detent so you didn't go to park. This stupid knob down by your armrest, you need to look down and try to figure out what gear its actually in if you screw up. By that time, the car behind you has honked their horn at you for being an idiot. lol At least the gear shift is up by your line of sight, so you can keep your eyes on the road or mirrors and also see the gear selector...

I’m starting to think armoredsaint just likes a stick in hand. If you know what I mean. Not that there’s anything wrong with that... others possibly on the same float. A little light in the loafers. If you get my drift.

Having a D and R button on the steering wheel that could be pushed with a thumb would be nice for when backing up and parking a camper.

I honestly don't give a flying flip one way or the other. My mind is not so tunnel-visioned that I cannot conform quickly. I already use multiple operating systems for home and work so going from Windows to Mac to CLI is already there.

Maybe it is just me, though. I'm an odd duck... ;)

You shouldn't ever have to take your eyes off the road. This 'knob' shifter must be cheaper. They are even on the the GT500(with paddles), but still soo lame.

A knob and its wiring is cheaper and easier to install than linkage and a cable and their adjustments. If you like the shift lever, buy police SSV trim. They still have them.
