misfires on 1, 3, and 4, slightly rough idle, very little power, aweful noise while accelerating

This is a vehicle that a friend brought to me as he was considering purchasing it. It's in good shape, but has no power. One of the heater hoses was gushing out coolant at the t-fitting that is above bank 2. It had a code for that corresponding coil(coil circuit malfunction...can't remember the exact code). Seemed like an obvious fix, so, he bought the truck. In the meantime, it racked up some more codes, random misfire and then specific misfires for a few cylinders, can't remember which ones. I replaced the coolant hose, went ahead and got the 2 coils that the parts store had in stock, and a set of motorcraft plugs. It is still running rough and the power is just not there. It also makes a harsh, metallic noise, kind of a cross between a pop and click, like something is breaking coming from "that area" or near during wot. Have power at coil connectors, injectors, swapped a couple injectors, swapped cam sensors. On the scan tool, both cat temperatures are the same, if that helps. It did have a pending code for bank 1 primary o2 after one of the several test drives. I have not checked fuel pressure other than just pressing the Schrader valve and fuel shot out and I suppose I might check compression tomorrow. Oh yeah, didn't notice the noise initially because I didn't drive it that hard.

Maybe jumped a tooth on the timing chain.

Im guess you will need to do the rest of the coils. Had several of the 5.4s in the past, and seems like when the coils start going, they keep going one after the other. The last set i did was on a 2012 ex with 250000km on it. Replaced plugs and Accel coils. Ran like new after this.

The metallic noise on the passenger bank? When hot? All the time? Maybe a collapsed roller follower might be time to pull valve cover and replace. They are only $4 but that valve cover can be a pain. It there is cam scoring or roller follower trouble may also want to pull timing cover and put in new chain tensioners.
