The only caveat to what’s already been said is the FX4 package also gets you the 3.73 rear axle (and HD radiator). Full 9000lb towing requires the brake controller which can be had as a dealer installed option...

Hate to bring an old topic back up but I used the search button and didn't feel the need to make a new thread. Quick question on this same topic have the 2016 Expedition El 3.5l 4x4 which has the 3.73 rear end. I'm looking to boost the tow capacity as the trailer I'm looking at weighs 7146 GVWR. I have installed aftermarket 7pin trailer wire and a brake controller. If I was to get a auxillary trans cooler and an upgraded radiator would that do that truck. Also suggestions for both as well would be awesome! Thanks a bunch!

Pro Trailer back-up assist is also in the HD Tow package. But it's more of a convenience feature.

I would go with the factory transmission cooler. I did it on mine and it was easy. I got the two factory lines that are required, and a factory style part from Autozone. Install was a breeze doing it this way. This thread is what helped me out: https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/2015-upgrade-to-heavy-duty-towing.33493/

intense98neon,
I have the parts number of the transmission cooler. Do you have the part numbers of the two lines? What is the other part that you got from Autozone?

Sorry for the delay, I don't get notifications apparently any longer! 7L1Z-7A095-B is the factory part number for the transmission cooler. I just went to the auto parts store and got the replacement from them. If I remember correctly it was about 35-40 bucks.
