Boy, what job just to get to the connector. My arms are wrapped around transmission. The sensor and connector are bad. Corrosion in male and female ends. Will I be able to get harness loose enough to bring connector closer to cut and replace. Any feedback would be appreciated. 1997 expedition 5.4 passenger side

I think I did my 2000 when changing my exhaust manifold through the fenderwell with the liner removed. It was a beast. That was the passenger side. Try removing the fender liner and wheel. See if you can get at it through the wheelwell.

Going through the wheel well is the best way. Remove the liner like Trainmaster said. Also remove the nut so that the transmission dipstick can be pulled aside. Try to hook the connector and pull it closer to the wheel well area and get it disconnected. Get the O2 out. I was able to break it loose from under the vehicle, then unscrew it the rest of the way by hand through the wheel well. Hand tighten the new sensor through the wheel well, go back under to tighten with the with the wrench, then reconnect the sensor through the wheel well making sure the wire is clear of the exhaust. I've done the job twice. Second time was able to do it very quickly using this approach.

Thanks guys, but this o2 sensor I mentioned is the back(after the cat converter), at tail end of transmission. That’s why I said I wrapped my arms around transmission to reach connection on top.
So still hoping someone out their has dealt with this one?

I snapped mine off at the exhaust while trying to remove the sensor! These were not made to be removed unless you remove the exhaust system, at least on my 99!
