Ford has a bunch of dipsticks working for them seeing as they took the trans dipstick out from under the hood AND this government mandated TPM tire system sucks as will when the battery's start to fail , I don't need a warning chime / light to tell me IF a tire is soft, I can tell just by the way the vehicle handles / acts and also I have a set of eyes god gave me and can tell just by looking at a tire if it is low AND then I get a gauge to confirm what my eye are telling me, hell I've been know to honk at someone around me, roll my window down and tell them THEIR tire is low, The mfg's should at the vary least offer an opt out feature on the TPM system for people who know what their doing behind the wheel knowing that their ARE also some people who are clueless with mechanical things :( .

Perhaps I spoke too soon.

Change them out with your tires at or around 150k miles and you won't have this problem at all. Not that hard.

Agreed, my tires were already replaced before mine went bad and it still was no big deal. Sensors are $12 a piece on rock auto, give it to your shop for an hour.

I just went ahead and replaced my sensors at the same time I got new tires since they were 10 years old.

I don't see what the big deal is, if you don't like them don't blame Ford blame the nanny govt regulators

And Ford isn't the only one that is doing this with the dipstick

Seems like every other service related thing these days is a pain, so why should this be any different? Ever change the oil filter on a 2010 V-8 Explorer? Or let's not forget our spark plugs? So why should checking trans fluid be easy? I'm used to it all by now.

Well I'm going to revive a thread. I went to check my transmission fluid today, carefully avoiding the hot catalytic converter, and the miniscule dipstick broke in half! I suspect the fluid is low as I see some oil around the connectors to the transmission cooler. Any thoughts on where to get a replacement for an 07?

Wait till it slips a little on a slow hard turn and put a quart in it, it's not rocket science

It's already slipped a little on a slow mountain climb. That's why I was checking it. I think I will just add a quart and call it good for now til I get back home. I have discovered that following a minor front end hit (prior to my purchase) they replaced the tow package cooler with a standard cooler. So another task at hand is a new, bigger trans cooler.
