Just got a 2020 Limited w/ HD Towing package. I have an Equalizer WDH, but would have to reconfigure the whole thing for this vehicle. The trailer I'm towing maxes out at 3750 lbs., but usually don't have it that heavy. So, anyone tow a lighter trailer without a WDH and how does the Expedition do?

I hooked it up the other day, it lowered the back 1".

my 07 towed a tandem axle 21 ft travel trailer that was 4800 lbs with ease. Just a 2 inch drop and ball. Only sunk down 1/2 inch

At 3750 lbs I wouldn’t worry, you’re well within its capabilities. I tow 7,000 without one

I'd always prefer to have it and not need it than the opposite. Finding out you need it when a semi passes you might be a scary way to find out.

why wouldn't you want to reconfigure the hitch? Is it not just a paperweight otherwise?

I wouldn't worry so much about weight distribution as I would be interested in sway control.

I tow a camper that is around 3000 pounds with just a sway bar, no WDH. I have a 2019 with HD Tow Package.

Tows great, even in extremely windy situations (which I just encountered a week or so ago coming up Route 13 in Virginia/Maryland and Route 1 in Delaware). Was getting sustained winds close to 20mph with gusts over 30mph those days.

If you look at a map, I went from Chincoteague Island, VA to Assateague State Park, MD on one day. Next day was Assateague SP to Delaware Seashore State Park. Winds were coming straight off the Atlantic Ocean.

My saga goes like this, bought a new 2016 with HD tow package and an anti sway (friction bars) hitch. I pull a 24’ enclosed aluminum race trailer that weighs about 7K lbs loaded. It was a nightmare, I could barely tow above 55 and if it was windy forget it and every time a tractor trailer passed it was scary.

Fast forward to researching, buying and installing a Pro Pride hitch...problem gone, completely, I can go down the road at 75/80 mph with no issues at all. The entire rig moves as a unit, just like a fifth wheel set up. It was not cheap, but best money I ever spent

Well, there is a HUGE difference between pulling a boat and a camper or enclosed trailer... your at least aerodynamic, and most of the boats weight is behind the axle.
