Does anyone know if the necessary hookups are there, power for example, if you simply replace non-power-folding with power folding mirrors and replace the switch? 2008

I don't think it's been confirmed. It's not as simple though as replacing the switch. Keep in mind power-fold comes with memory mirrors. The switch talks to the Driver Seat Module and the module controls the mirrors.

But, there's also an option for those w/o memory to install a separate (aftermarket) module to control the folding motors. Requires custom wiring.

I plan to do this swap in my 2017 later this year but keep everything OEM.

You need to swap the Driver Seat Module to one that is coded for power fold mirrors, then enable them using FORSCAN or a similar tool. There's also a way to convert it to the F-150 style with a relay that requires cutting the existing wires and routing them to the relay and switch. This is what I did, but don't have a link to the original instructions. You won't have the memory fold in/out when you use your key fob, but everything else works fine. Note that the driver's mirror is more expensive than the passenger mirror due to the auto-dimming feature.

Just curious, why does the DSM have to be swapped? This would mean they made two different modules, thus increasing cost, when it could be accomplished with just one module and some programming which is why they went to using modules in the first place. Can't you re-flash the DSM with updated firmware via ForSCAN? Thanks! :)

You’re correct. Ford actually made two different modules. I tried the direct swap method and my dealer couldn’t activate it. They could enable it in the Module but it wouldn’t work, hence why I did the relay method instead.

The Navigator/Limited/KR modules are the direct swap but still need to be VIN coded, and very pricey.
