Greetings all from a new member. Thanks for having me.

My 2015 expedition el ltd seems not to have a cabin filter, yet the same year f150 does.

I even removed the glove box to inspect where they show it on the F150 and it is clearly not there.

It also seems that they put cabin filters in later expeditions. Is it that it took ford longer to reengineer the air system in the expedition as it is much larger than the 150 cabin?

Thoughts on why this would be?

Any suggestions how to add one? My wife and son have terrible pollen allergies

Thanks for taking the time guys!

Best

Mark

I have a 2016 and there is not a cabin air filter. Just a screen for the blower. I verified with the dealer that my model didn't come with one.

There are some mods posted that show how the black box in the air system (behind the glove box) has had a rectangular hole cut in it and then a custom filter inserted. Not sure if it was this forum or a similar one. Looks pretty good. I wish this mod would be more popular so I can see how 10 people do it, so I can learn from their mistakes... haha. A cabin filter would be great, because my '11 model collects dust, more so on dirt roads.

I just bought my 2012 Expedition Limited a few days ago and want to do the same thing... I know the Navigators have the cabin filter, has anyone adapted it to fit? I wonder how different the HVAC systems are since they are so similar in other ways.

I don't think anything had them until 2018

Good diagrams of the HVAC system at Silver State Ford Parts. I found this diagram.

Looks like putting a sock over #9 (screen) is the easiest solution. Does anyone know where this is? I am thinking engine compartment, to allow the *cough* fresh air to enter, but I haven't really figured this out. I sure don't see an intake.

I did have a dealer try and charge me for replacing it, once....

I thanked them, and asked them to show me where it is....they took it off the bill.
