Good morning , im looking on how to replace the third brake light harness on my 98 expedition. I cant find anything as to how to replace it and i need it my third brake lights stopped working completely. The sockets are all melted from water getting in them and im not sure if i can buy the connectors themselves and wire them in. I went to the junkyard yesterday and all expys there had them melted i took the best one i could find with me but even then im not sure the connectors are all that great. Any help would be appreciated thanks

I went ahead and bought a brand new Led one for around $60. The old one was cracked in 4 different spots and all bulbs melted out cept one. Looks better than factory, works better, and with the led's it wont ever melt out again. I had to modify the truck a little but nothing that will ever be seen.

i did see those aftermarket led ones but i also saw all the bad reviews on them in regards of having to do modifications. My issue is i got another lens thats no cracks and better than my original at the junkyard with the harness, but i really just need to replace the harness really i was hoping for an oem solution but if needed i will go with the led ones and deal with the modifications

Yea I was thinking same thing. And I didn't read any reveiws. But 5min with a dremel and I didn't have to worry about the harness if I thought I could put Led bulbs in the factory harness I would've but it was too far gone

I purchased a used rear upper taillight on eBay for $25 no cracks and it also came with a perfectly good harness. After searching for weeks I wasn't able to find a new one from Ford but this worked out perfectly. I found a video on YouTube on how to remove the harness from inside the back hatch, pretty easy, just take your time. BTW the only LED rear upper light I found that actually fit was $130 so stuck with the OEM and changed the bulbs to LED 194

Good luck
