spoke too soon :), while the overheating has gone away, i am now facing the misfire problem again. ran good for a little over 100 miles then check engine light came on, switched the plug out again and another 100 miles then the light again. I hope its just fouling out the plug as it burns of any residual deposits inside the cylinder. I have not had a chance for a comp test yet but will post the results when done.

How does the plug look when you pull it? Is it still getting covered in crap or does it look good? I am assuming that you put in a new plug after your fix, but have you tried replacing the coil too? If you are only getting the misfire on the one cylendar then I would look at the coil boot conector or just replace the whole coil and see if that solves the missfire.

replaced the plug with a split fire plug in hopes of getting whatever it is in the cylinder out. So far so good 200 miles and no misfires :)

i have heard that so i do have a whole set of motorcraft plugs to put in once the 500 mile breakin period is over,

i am more than halfway there. 325 miles and not one check engine light or misfire.
