Just purchased a 20012 el limited and love it!! It currently has the optional Ford remote start system, which is a feature I've been using pretty much every day...My only issue with it is the range is not great, and it's the one-way version so you don't get a confirmation that the start was successful.

I see on the Ford accessory website that there is a long-range antenna that supposedly works with the one-way system that I have now. my question is, it is as simple as swapping antennas to get the longer range, or does the whole system and keyfobs have to be upgraded as well. If that's the case, I'd just probably opt for the two-way long-range system that gives a confirmation signal.

I would put a fresh battery in the remote before doing anything else. Radio signal from the remote will be limited by the voltage of the battery.

Lights flash on my '17 when I remote start it. Nothing on the key.

100% agree with replacing the batteries in the remotes first. The remote start fobs for my '14 seem to go through them rather quickly.
