They do a good job of concealment if you don't like the look of the hooks. I like the hooks but it's subjective.
Depending on the cost, I personally wouldn't bother if you already have hooks installed (aside from looks) unless they add 1+ MPG (highly unlikely) on highway driving.
Edit: OEM parts cost about $30 each. I believe Ford calls it a, 'bumper cover spacer panel.' I think the tow hooks need to come off but someone else can confirm.

You can take the covers off and add tow hooks if you like. You can get black or chrome.

That’s why there are no hooks. All 4wd’s come with hooks. But the front frame can accept them.

I have an extra set in the closet. I added tow hooks to my 2wd. I didn’t notice a bit of change in fuel mileage.
I had intended to do a write up on the conversion. It is really pretty easy.

Wakeboarder I added them to my 2016 xpo I now have 2018. But I see the part #'s are different can you recall the part # you put on?

I will look it up tonight. All the accessories were the exact pn’s from the parts pages. I ordered the tow hooks off of EBay making some assumptions that turned out to be incorrect. In the end, they seemed to fit up great.
