Hi guys, good day! How many of you converted your in tank fuel pump to an external one? And how did you do it? It's so hard to always be dropping the tank to replace the fuel pump. Thank you and stay safe!

My 2000 XLT 4.6 and my same year F150 4.6 are both still on the original pump. Not sure what average pump life span is, I guess depends on fuel quality and several other factors. Even if you could put together an external "kit" to replace the old in-tank pump I would think you'd still have to drop the tank anyway (to pull the original out). Save some time on the second change out, though.

Yes it will save you much time and effort. I just don't know how to install one. Thank you for your reply.

Not sure it's worth the trouble. The tank is not bad to drop, I just did my 40 gallon excursion on my back w floor jack and straps after 190k. My 97 expedition 5.4 is starting to have extra cranks to start just like excursion did, I didn't check pressure yet. But will change anyway. Should be something you only do once.

Thank you might as well drop the tank and place a good quality fuel pump assembly. Take care!
