New member. Just got a sweet, 77k miles, 2006 Limited.

So probably a question that has been asked before but the search did not bring it up.

I see the 2007 Expedition got bigger brakes and bigger calipers....could these be swapped onto a 2nd gen? Just an idea I had because it's probably about time to change the brakes anyway.

My 08 expedition has 170k miles and I just changed the front disks due to a slight warp in one disk. Why would you change them at 77k miles? That seems very early.. can’t tell you if the later disk and calipers can fit, but I would check your disks first, I think they will be a long way from needing to be changed..

Yes but its far more interesting to think about if I could, rather than debate about if i should.

Also I know the truck was used for towing some kind of camper trailer so I can assume the brakes have been worn more and may need a change sooner than your quite impressive 170K miles.

The better idea would probably be to just upgrade to drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic brake pads on your '06 and enjoy the simpleness of that effort. The Gen2 Expy's have never been accused of a lack of stopping power. The Gen3 brake calipers might require the bigger 18" wheels for clearance as well, so check clearances before jumping into the project.

Hi All,
I am a new member but a LONG time expy owner. I have a 2003 4x4 eddie bower with about 150k miles since new. Its been a GREAT car and is completely stock except the radio which would eat CD's.

I want to give it some love.

At first.

Im thinking about getting drilled/slotted rotors with new calipers and metal lines.

I want MORE stopping power - I've always hated how it stops even when NOT towing anything the pedal feel is very bad it goes way down and the suv takes long to stop.

Which would you all recommend ?

I do tow a 6k boat which has surge brakes so no need for electric controller.

Also - I do have a budget of about $2200.00
I would like to spend less because after this I would like to change the shocks / struts.

Then get the tranny serviced.

Thank you,
-A
