2017 Expedition Limited....strange occurrance. No lights... no power running board operation... no dash lites... no crank...no nothing except radio. Battery at 12.7volts... Just used the car a few hours earlier. Solution was to disconnect the negative battery cable to reset the PCM..... Reconnected and all is good.

Has this happened to others as well? Car was just dead. Is this the beginning of an unreliable situation that will/may happen again?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
John

It is possible that the batt cable connections were not tight, or may be slightly corroded.
Removing the cable to reset the PCM solved your problem, but you are concerned with a possible
reoccurrence of the 'no-start' condition. Check for tightness of both batt cables, and clean posts,
if necessary. May not be your problem, but a simple preventive start.

If it happens again, do the voltage drop test first ( There is a sticky on how) and that will help you narrow down the problem.

on the preventative side,
You could do the voltage drop test now on the positive and negative battery cables. Any little discrepancy in voltage could show a potential problem.
