I tried to pair a Bluetooth speaker to the Sync 3 in my 2019 Expedition. I received the message that it was not supported. I would like to have the radio audio available in a device outside my vehicle when camping or working around the house. What do I need to do?

I heart radio, Sirus and anything else you can play on the truck can be played from any online device.

What is the reason for using the truck as the audio source?

Kind of what I was thinking. The only source the radio would offer that isn't available on the phone is AM/FM, which depending on the phone may actually be possible though its rare these days as it generally relies on the wiring in a set of headphones to serve as the antenna.

I've not seen a vehicle that transmits its own audio via Bluetooth, its always a receiver.

If you truly want to get radio output to Bluetooth you can install a basic line output converter to factory speaker connections, as if you were installing an amp and pick up a Bluetooth transmitter from whichever vendor you prefer. This would output anything playing to the adapter.

Whole thing would probably run $50 and is fairly basic wiring. The two I've used in the past had Rx and Tx modes and accepted RCA input through a 3.5mm adapter which was included.

Yeah, The bluetooth in your Radio is designed to BE the speakers. So your phone connects to it. It is not designed for it to connect out to something else. Its like trying to connect two bluetooth speakers or headphones to each other.

So what do you do? Just use your phone as a source of audio to the speakers, not your truck. Don't want to use up the battery on your phone, then use another device for audio only. Any 5yr old ipod or the like will do the trick and be dirt cheap.
