Sorry, Wills. Couldn't help it. I'm usually not so bad. Getting old and overtaxed in this crummy state as Richard kindly assumed.

Yeah. Getting good parts massive. Local shop had advised me to avoid the "39.95 ebay coil sets." He kinda showed me the difference between quality coils and some he had in box that were uh, questionable?

Agreed...seem too many guys with 1 P0301 buy a set of 8 Chineeseum coil to then chase CONSTANT misfires assuming it HAS to be something else, i mean, the coils are NEW.

I have a 1998 Expedition with 125K miles that I bought brand new. Although she's given very good service over the last 22 years, recently only on acceleration she would hesitate (missing). No engine codes came up. Changed the fuel filter, cleaned the K & W air filter, MAF sensor, throttle body. She still had the same hesitation on acceleration. Here's what I did that fixed the problem. I installed new Motorcraft plugs. New DENSO coils (after researching I found that DENSO is an OEM manufacturer for Motorcraft. Yes they make coils for Motorcraft. I paid half price going with DENSO coils.) I removed all the fuel injectors, tested them for proper operation and then internally cleaned then, (like new). She now runs like the day I bought her (no hesitation at all). As an added benefit my gas mileage went down to 14 miles per gallon. Now I'm getting 17 miles per gallon. Wanted to share with you that tune ups make a big difference.

Be careful with the inexpensive Denso parts. Denso recently moved a lot of their operations from Japan to China. As such, there is now two price models for a lot of Denso parts. In other words, Japanese quality vs Chinese quality. I learned this when researching a new radiator and was amazed at the low cost of a Denso radiator. I researched and it was made in China and not a good alternative.

Check your Denso box for made in country.

Yes, checked that before I purchased the DENSO coils.......'Made in U.S.A. and they are ISO 9000 quality control rated. The toughest quality rating in the world (International Standard)......I know, I was a Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineer for 28 years...

Get over it! CHANGE THE PLUGS! If you wait to change plugs on a "coil over plug" Ford you're a fool. The longer you wait the more difficult it can be to remove them. If your vehicle has over 100K the gap is probably 3/32" or about .52+. You can do this! Purchase a set of 8 Motorcraft plugs and a special spark plug wrench with a magnet using 3/8" drive. Both a 4" and 6"+ extension with an elbow is good. You'll be amazed how much better your car will run! XOX's 76 year old DIY'er

I did! And I'm glad I did! Even if I had a local garage (SHOP LOCAL! SHOP SMALL!) do it for me.
If I can figure out how to post good quality pics, I will post one of the "bad" plug outta number 8. That one came apart.
