When I open the hood on my 2014 Expedition I immediately notice the open space between the front of the V8 and the radiator/shroud.

First thing that pops in my head is, "Did they design it like that because they wanted enough room for the V10?

Did they ever offer the V10 as an option for the Expedition? I know you could get the V10 in the Excursion, just wondered about the Expedition.

Do it....

Actually that would probably be a fairly cheap swap, those V10s are everywhere and not highly desired.

Then again for the cost you can get a nice Excursion V10 and call it good.

I’m not seeing any room in my 2007 for a V10. The 5.4L fits snug. 0F0F659B-7BDA-46B6-ABA6-C87E7EBFCF14.jpeg

I believe there was someone on here who did a v10 swap on the 1st gen, there was a lot of factory parts that worked and obviously some parts needed to be fabricated.

When I did my first oil/filter change I noticed the big gap between the front of the 5.4 and the radiator. First thing that popped into my head was how the old (early 70's) Monte Carlos looked like that. Don't know if it was engine sitting farther back in the frame or longer frame there out front.

Next time I change the oil/filter I'll try to remember to get a picture of it.

Ever crawl underneath of it? There's a good bit of room between the front of the engine and the radiator. All that plastic shrouding and such up top really covers up that gap when looking at it from above.

I used to think of a V10 swap, but if I were to do a swap now, it'd probably be for a Raptor 6.2. Of course, that is a lot of work to. If I were to spend that much time and money on power I'd just bolt on a twin screw blower and call it good.

I did the timing job so I’m well versed in that area lol, on my year by the time the fan clutch is on there isn’t much room left.
