Picked up a 2000 Expedition 5.4 Eddie Bauer 4x4 175k miles I think after wrecking my 98 expo. Got it from a local guy said it had a little hesitation at idle but wasn't really worried after having done everything on my last truck figured probably plugs or coils. Got it home pulled throttle body, injectors, coils and plugs. It has a aftermarket intake that looks some what new Plugs were nasty and plug wells had oil and old coolant in them so cleaned them up best i could. One of the plugs I couldn't get a socket on when i went to pull it so peaked in and there was a washer jammed against the plug figured well that had to be the issue cause it would cause a misfire. Installed new plugs, the coils seemed OK (didn't have money or would have got new) I through new boots and springs and cleaned and rebuilt the injectors. Cleaned the IAC, EGR, MAF and throttle body before installing. Through a fuel system cleaner in the 1/4 tank and fired it up. Sounded way better not shaking as much but found PCV boot leaking fixed that and it smoothed out. I reset the OBD2 and took it for a short drive. Dosnt have the power it should and exhaust dosnt sound right above idle and engine still has a little shake to it. Vacuum gauge reading are normal, pulling one of the EGR tube hoses and with vacuum gauge it sits right around 0 while idling and fuel pressure sits at 40 with key on engine off and after 5 or 10 min didnt drop but maybe a couple points. Oil looks ok. I banged on the muffler and i can hear a little bit of crap bouncing around but not a lot banged on the cats didnt hear anything. Ive sprayed carb cleaner all over looking for leaks. I have driven it up the road a couple short trips. It has not thrown a check engine light but i haven't driven it far enough for the O2 monitor to be ready yet cause don't want to do 65 down the hwy with something wrong. I attached a link to video of my live data the second pass through i am tapping the throttle sorry its blurry.

Pulling Vacuum the EGR tries to kill the motor so seems to be working but after 45 min of idling the EGR and tube were not hot.

I pulled the Vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and there was no change.

Does anything stick out to anyone?

What should I try? I don't have money to throw parts at it.

Thanks for any help

At 175,000 mi I would consider the Cats are bad. You can check it with an infrared thermometer. Also you can run it with just 2 front ones

Aftermarket Intake raises a red flag. A lot of people here including me have had problems with them and had to take them back off and go with OEM.

So it would be a good idea to smoke the intake.

Plus that would help with finding any other vacuum problems.

I was thinking that the cats might be trashed depending on how long the previous owner drove around with it missing. In the video O2B1S1 O2B2S1 are switching a lot O2B1S2 is switching but not as much and O2B2S2 holds almost steady. The 2 downstream sensors should hold pretty correct? I do have a digital thermometer i hit the cats with it to day don't remember the temps but the passenger side was a lot otter then the driver side. Which side is bank 1 driver or passenger?

Your vacuum should read around -25 while running I think. May leaks in vacuum lines or elbows. Will make it lose power and low end idle roughness. Check out rockauto.com for hose sizes. You have performed a very good analysis on the engine. I would have checked the simple things first. All that heat under the hood is hard on rubber boots and hoses as you have seen at the PCV valve hoses.

I did put a vacuum test gauge on it and it sits right at the little red line i painted on the picture. I don't have a smoke machine would using my air compressor and pushing air in from say the break booster line and and cap off the throttle body do anything for me? Thanks

You need to press down the brake pedal & hold to put a load on the vacuum to see if it holds at that line.
