This might be a stupi question and i shiould know the anwser but its ben one of those days.

On my 2000 expo 5.4 i was yanking the injectors out to be sent off cause something isnt right. After pulling them all i stuck my snake camera down each hole to have a peek and cylinder #2 valve looks to be open alot and when i got to cylinder #6 it was maybe 1/8 or 1/4 inch open.

So my question is should that valve on #6 be open or opening or closed or closing while #2 is open. Cause now that i seen that its got me wondering if ive got a valve train problemses.

Than for any help as always.

Get the injectors cleaned and installed. Start the engine and observe for a misfire. If present, you may need to do a cylinder compression test.

To answer your question without sarcasm, what you saw is likely normal. As far as where should one valve be compared to the other cylinder, I can't answer specifically. Cylinders fire one at a time, as the firing order dictates; so valves for those cylinders follow that same cadence. Each of the 8 cylinders should be different when you look in there, provided you don't rotate the engine between looks. If your injector repair doen't fix your problem (you never stated exactly what the problem was) and it can't be attributed to a coil or plug, then a compression test or pulling the valve covers might be in order. I just replaced a roller rocker because of a number 7 misfire situation, which a compression test would not find. All my valves were closed and sealed for compression. One intake was failing to open because the rocker had failed and popped out.

very generally speaking, each cylinder in a V8 is 45.625 degrees behind the one ahead... so the valves from one cylinder to the next aren't going to be in the same place.
