Taking on a new job that requires me to drive cross crossing the state FL.

May be time to trade the ole gal in or sell. She’s perfectly maintained and runs great w all systems working. Dealer maintained etc.

Looking at a new 4Runner.

Would eBay be a safe way to sell? Never done business on that site don’t want to get ripped.

Better offer it to your friends or try this forum. Sometimes members near you might be interested.

I've sold several cars on ebay in past years. Two of three sales went very well. No problems, great buyers and good prices. The last sale I attempted two years ago was a nightmare. The ebay selling platform no longer works well.

Messages to and from bidders were not received, billing for the ads went haywire and no customer service department exists on ebay anymore. I sold the car three times, each time to high bidders who never contacted me to close the deal. Each time, ebay charged me big money for their commission and I had to stop payment on my credit card because I could not reach ebay. Sellers can no longer leave feedback for nonperforming buyers, so there is no way to sort out the scammers.

A year after the attempted sale, Paypal attempted to debit an unrelated bank account for ebay's unearned "commissions". With the help of the local district attorney they were charged with state banking violations and I recovered my money.

I'd pass on using ebay for now until they straighten out their business. Or go in ready to defend your credit card and spend hours with grief.

Try listing it on FB marketplace for free. I have bought and sold many items on there no issues just make sure you meet up in a public place.

+1. Marketplace is a far better venue than eBay for most items (Collectables are one exception that comes to mind. As a seller, I can usually get a far better price on collectables with a nationwide market like eBay.)
