Five Star SCT TSX REVIEW

So I jumped on the Five Star sale of 249 for the older TSX tuner. I didn't want to spring for an expensive unit with display and only wanted the 87 and 91 tunes. I've had an SCT tuner for the Mustang for almost 20 years and am familiar with operation and a computer geek by trade so I wasn't concerned too much about overcoming any problems.

Ordered unit Sunday night. Arrived (backwoods) Canada Wed afternoon with my tunes loaded. Plugged unit into truck (no updating it no loading tunes onto it). Downloaded app to my android phone. Fired it all up. Everything worked FLAWLESSLY. To be honest I was a little suprised. Installed 87 Tow/Performance easily. Interface worked well.

Engine tune is spectacular. Seat of pants feel is 40HP and 60-70TQ. Seriously. I had no idea there was this much left over in a 5.4. I should have done it day 1, on my first Expedition. The transmission tuning is also spectacular. Truck still shifts nice, but faster and a little harder. Also at different (the proper) times now. Significant improvement over stock. 5-star did a great job on these tunes guys.

Can't comment on 5-Star customer service. Didn't need to call them!! Shipping, packaging all excellent and the byes threw in an SCT camo gym bag. Which I can actually use.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5-Stars tunes for 2nd Gen 5.4s.

Jumped on the sale also just an hour ago. Good to hear its working well.

As did I, I’m almost excited. But then I went and tried to change the fuel filter and it’s all broken... lol

So?? I'm still on my first tank with 87 Perf/Tow. Running great. Idles absolutely perfect.

I loaded up the 87 performance tune yesterday and went for a spin.

Truck was jumpy at the first few stops but it seems that the computer adjusted and smoothed out the pedal very quickly.

Driving impressions are excellent.

Shifts seem precise and much faster than before. Truck quickly downshifts when encountering a hill. The power delivery is much sharper, it feels like a newer truck really, the way more modern engines deliver the power.

Very happy so far, will load up the 87 Eco tune to see if there is a noticeable difference.
