I have upgraded my Expedition Radio to a Double Din Kenwood. There is no kits available but thru research have found that the 2014 F150 Radio Dash mount kit works with very little modifications and unbolting the factory metal brackets on the factory radio. you will have to drill out the dimples in the factor brackets and next size up on the bolt holes to allow for the screws to attach to aftermarket radio. I used a Kenwood and found the two holes match up perfectly. for the wiring harness you will need the CAN harness (more expensive harness mine was 79.00)(years 07 - 17). Hope this helps you out in order to put in a aftermarket radio in your 2016-2017 ford expedition with a base radio.

Im so confused by your truck. My XLT base stereo looks nothing like yours before the install. What about you're rear AC controls and all the other buttons? Also why does your truck have the round fog lamps? Am I missing something?

Leith_Lad,
Mine is a Base model XL SSV. Originally mine didn't come with a center counsel or 3rd row seating. It does now have a Center counsel but none of the electronics work in it.

I am going through a similar setup with my 2015 SSV, I have everything ready to go but for the life of me can’t find the 16 pin plug with the canbus on it, was your back there or did you tap into the obd2 canbus hi and low to get yours HU to power on, or is there another place to tap into the canbus that would not interfere if an obd2 reader would be hooked up at the same time.

Nice looking Kenwood. I wouldn't mind replacing my factory unit with something that does CarPlay.

If you are thinking of upgrading the xl/fleet models radio and have the most base radio version (i.e. no cd just am/fm with auxiliary input) the AXVI 5520 kit will not work. This version of the expedition at least in the 2015 expedition fleets or xl/ssv is likely missing the canbus input unless you get lucky that the cd versions have. It seems this way on the f150 forums from what I can gather as well. You can hook it up bypassing the canbus but have to find a suitable host fuse site in the passenger footwell area.

I'd love to hear what you figured out for this? I'm picking up my 2015 SSV on Friday and it's the very most basic model (no cd). I doubt it will have the canbus. What are the options?
