Rain (light), cold, Sunday, leaves changing color here in central VA.

We took a short (about 4 hrs.) trip. Filled up at a gas station just west of 288 on Rt. 60 and got some pumpkin spice coffee.

Drove out Rt. 60 to Rt. 15 and then turned north. Drove Rt. 15 up to Zion Crossroads and stopped at an Arby's to buy some food/iced tea/coffee.

To I64 east back to Rt. 288 and south on 288 to Rt. 10. Stopped and filled up the Expedition (2014) while the wife was in a Food Lion picking up some groceries.

Happy. 19.2 mpg. Still tickles me that a great big heavy/long/wide Ford Expedition gets better gas mileage than the Cherokee Sport (4.0 straight 6 with a 4 speeed automatic) the Expedition replaced.

Lots of small towns, old farms/buildings (sad to see so many old homes abandoned and falling down and old shops/businesses boarded up) and trees showing their fall colors.

Got a big hug and thank you kiss from the wife when we got back in the house.

Next time try 522 from Mineral to Culpeper beautiful ride any time of year. nice little restaurants in Culpeper and you pass Belmont Distillery (they make ****** moonshine) from Moonshiners.

We've been up 522 a time or two (getting on it off Rt. 60),but I believe we turned west/northwest to go towards Gordonsville well before getting to Culpepper?? Might have to make the effort to stay on it all the way on one of our "road trips."

Cool. US 15 is a good road up here in Rochester also, although no longer connected to VA

the fuel efficiency of these things is quite impressive. I have been driving it for a week trying to finish off a tank of 87. My rural commute im averaging 16mpg and thats driving it HARD. I always calculate mpg by hand and compare it to the computer and its always been within .5mpg one way or another.
