I’m looking to upgrade my tow vehicle. I have an ‘07 Yukon xl 2500 that is consistently overheating on warm days when towing my 5500 pound travel trailer.

It’ll be 90 degrees outside and I have to run the heater to keep the engine temp in check. That got me looking for a new vehicle.

been looking at the 2020 expy and the 2020 6.2 denali. Both 4x4 configs. Both with the HD trailer setup. It looks like the expedition is somewhat less expensive as well.

my question is this...how does the expy do trailering in the real world? I’m new to this board, and couldn’t find any glaring or known issues but I’d like to hear from anyone that tows with the expy on what their experience is like. Good, bad, or indifferent.

TIA

~7700 out of about 20k total miles on my 2019 pulling a 7000# TT. All good/no issues. That 07 sounds like you'd benefit from a flush/fill of fresh coolant, new water pump and maybe even a new thermostat...

I guess buying a whole new one and trading that problem/work in is one way to go! Good luck, this engine/whole rig is great for towing for me...
Happy Camper here!
