these are my new auxiliary backup lights that I installed on my 02 Eddie Bauer expedition I like how that look, and they were really easy to install, the only thing I had to do was extend the wiring harness to go from the lights to the switch. my brand new Black Oak LED pod lights turned off.jpg my brand new Black Oak LED pod lights turned on.jpg

Nice & bright. I can't tell from the pic if they are protected from rocks & debris coming off the back tires.

nope I didn't tie them into the original backup circuit, I just used the harness that came with the lights, the only things I dis was A-extend the harness between the two light pods, used butt connectors, then I put heat shrink tubing over the butt connectors to keep out the moisture, no that's how my stupid smartphone took the pics and yes they're protected from rocks and debris coming from the rear tires, if anybody is interested in getting something like these for their expedition checkout WWW.BLACKOAKLED.COM that's where these lights came from, I'm happy with my new lights.

I don't understand your explanation of how you connected them. So, how do they go on with the factory backup lights. You mentioned a switch so do you have to turn on the new B/U lights with a switch every time you back up? OR do they come on whenever you put the gear selector in reverse?

I didn't tie them into my backup circuit because I wanted to be able to use them when I need to use them without putting my expedition in reverse, I'm using the wiring harness that came with their own switch each pod light came with it's own wiring harness I'm very pleased with them.
