Just bought an 04 EB 5.4

It has no working tail lights (brakes, turn, runners)

I have checked the F2 and F18 fuses, replaced the tail light brake bulbs (just to make sure I had a working set), replaced brake switch relay at the pedal.

Everything thing else is working correctly as far the electronics go. Lights, Powerseats, radio, dvd, heated seats, front lights, mirrors heated and signals.

Anyone have any other things to check for before I send this in to have someone else look at it?

Thanks,

Do you have a multimeter to check for voltage back at the tail light harness plug ? Any voltage up at the third brake light assembly in the liftgate ? Do your hazard flashers work in the back ? Reverse lights work ? The Multi-Function Switch (your turn signal stalk switch body at the steering column...) is a common point for much of the light functions of both the front and rear light assemblies harness.

Reverse lights yes, 3rd eye yes, hazards no, I found one ground at the back next to the spare pulled it and cleaned it. Have any idea where that harness connection is? I pulled the plastic runners off on the rear drivers side door where in comes into the cab but there is no connection there to check power.

Another spot to check for voltage is the trailer 7-pin socket. The third-eye brake light does not run through the multi-function switch.

But as far as the tail light socket wiring....

Right Rear Turn/Brake wire = Orange/Light Blue Striping
Left Rear Turn/Brake = Light Green/Orange Striping
Tail Lights = Brown
Ground = Black

You will find the wires lead from the multifunction switch on the steering column all the way to the tail lights. You should be able to find them in that wire bundle behind the driver's kick panel. Just unwrap the electrical tape to expose the wires. Rewrap 'em when you're done.
