Chinese, American, I try to purchase whatever the best solution is. Most of the time thats the highest quality I can obtain which may or may not be from the US though many times in life accepted quality has been determined by budget. Even as bad as some of the Chinese parts are they are typically better than a failing/extremely worn whatever it is that you're replacing. I'd rather the guy on the hwy have a China ball joint than one with 273k on it wobbling around while cruising at 75 because he's $50 short of affording the US version.

You want to talk about imported garbage, try shopping for furniture today. Its almost impossible to find something decent unless you're going all the way to the ultra high end. Its either some skin glued to cardboard for $799 or a $13k sofa it seems. Wife and I are looking into leather living room set and its impressive how much effort is put into making a typically premium product lesser quality and "cheap", there is virtually no middle ground in the market.

I can't for the life of me figure out what you're talking about ... did I say "Chinese car quality is the same as German car quality"? It's impressive all that travelling you did but what does that have to do with US auto manufacturing in the 70's or Xerox in the 80's? Do you know a lot about those 2 subjects? Somehow all these points are all getting mixed together. The 70's or 80's is not 2021. China is not Germany. A statement that applies to one country and time period is not necessarily true for a different place & time.

Are there even any Chinese cars in the US? I think China bought Volvo who had quality problems a few years ago but I think are improved now ... not sure.

You made statements and opinions, I responded. Believe what you wish. I’ve owned 70’s cars American, ***, and German. Owned 80’s American which were POS. 90s, 2000’s German that were superior.

I purchased a 1992 BMW 735i in 1993. I donated it in 2018 when the tranny finally gave the ghost w 295,***.

I now own my 2000 Expy w 217,***.

Yes there were periods when certain countries made great vehicles but nobody made great vehicles consistently superior to all other than Germans. Even *** cars sucked in 70’s and 80’s.

I’ve owned BMW 735i, 740i, 750iL, 745i. Not to mention the Vdubs I drove in high school and college. Brother owned a 911. Other brother owned a 914-6. This is my point of reference through personal experience.
