Good day, we have a 2017 Limited, intermittently the key pad on the door will not respond and have to use the key fob to unlock the doors. Also intermittently, after getting in the truck, the system will not recognize that the key is in the vehicle and will not start? Any ideas, could it simply be the battery in the fob needs to be replaced?
Thanks!

I would try the battery first. It is a simple and cheap fix. Had similar issue with my 2016 Expy fob.

I have a 2015 Expediton Limited 4x4. I have replaced the fob battery several times. As it gets weak, after starting the vehicle, the dash will display a “no fob detected” message.

Have you tried the second fob to see if it operates?

Battery. Obvious first thing to try.

When it won’t start with Fob, what happens when you put it in the spot in the center console for starting when fob battery is dead.

I'm not feeling any correlation between keyfob battery and outside door button pad.

When the outside button pad fails you, can you tell if the pad even illuminates? Next time you run into this, try
simultaneously pressing 7/8 and 9/0 to see if the locks cycle.

Good luck no less.

Just had the same issue with the fob. A new battery cured the 'no key detected' issues. However, the door keypad worked fine throughout.

I took it as the 1 button press to unlock via pad when key is near. That function need the Fob to be connected via RFD, which needs its battery to be good.

I’m currently involved in this issue. 2016 Limited. I replaced the battery in my fob last week. Neither fob is recognized. I checked the car battery when disconnected from cables, and it reads 12.67v. I checked out the fuses and their all good. Any suggestions?

Even though it won’t recognize the key, there is a place inside the console to place the key and start the vehicle. Now I have wheels while I continue to troubleshoot.
