Don't know if this is the right place for this post so please forgive if not.

While re installing the fuel tank after cleaning it and installing new pump I just happened to notice something different. Both cats cut off with a Sawzall. Gone overnight. Man this is a tough blow. The funny thing is we looked at 2 other SUVs before buying this 97 EB that had been robbed of theirs. So I am wondering if anyone has a low cost solution to replace and then protect them. I was thinking of mounting some stainless wire mesh or the like underneath but they would probably cut through that too. The clamps they sell are out of my reach with this happening. So any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Your comprehensive vehicle insurance coverage will cover the loss, minus your deductible (parts and labor).

PS - For many years, my wife and I, and another couple, would vacation in Las Vegas once or twice a year. Although we stayed on the strip, we often rented a vehicle and went sightseeing to the various State and Federal parks. The pandemic changed that.

So sorry to hear it. I've heard reports of this happening to a few Toyota Prius' in our neck of the woods in North Seattle. I'm a little nervous since our 2nd car is a Prius. It's especially amazing they could even get under the prius to cut them out - that car is so low I have to drive up on blocks just to change the oil! In relation, the Expy cats are probably and easy job.

That kind of damage/theft was a pretty regular thing in parts of Richmond, Va and surrounding areas several years ago.

No matter what anyone says, the last few years of economic growth/job growth has resulted in a lot less of that.

I'm afraid, once the new administrations policies have kicked in the crime rate will go back up as even more jobs are lost/thrown away by ill conceived policies.
