Unfortunately today my transmission took its final shift and started slipping in first and second, it started as an overheat and I never noticed the slipping so beware if you've ever had a transmission overheat. My transmission shop quoted me $3000 to rebuild it with a heavy duty rebuild kit since im running 35's. Ive searched online and found transmissions for around 1500, but how hard is it to do yourself? I've watched some videos on youtube and it seems like a pretty straightforward job if you have the right tools which I do. Its the 4r70w transmission RWD with the 4.6.
If anybody has replaced this transmission I'd appreciate some tips and tricks to make the job go smoother.

I replace the trans in mine and engine and other stuff, but the trans was pretty straightforward for me. I installed by myself in a friends driveway. With a ATV/quad lift. The advantage I had is , mine is lifted with a suspension and body lift. The body lift I’m sure really helps with reaching into places. But yours is also 2wd, so the should make it easier. The hard part is just lines the torque converter bolts to the flywheel and slide it all together. Mine went super smooth. Also I installed my trans with the engine out, as my lift kit was installed already and it’s a pain to take the trans brace out.
