So he said he is taking it to his trans guy and will do a flush and fill w new filter and all, we shall see. This only seems to be a 50/50 shot.

Offer him $4500. If body & underbody is nice, is worth a new tranny w/upgrades. 159k will be looking at timing parts before long but not bad miles for the age. Look for rust in Jersey.

The trans is $3500 in these parts. If he agreed to $5K for a good truck, that same truck less a trans is worth less than $1500.

But it sounds like it has a bad miss, not a bad transmission. Let me guess that the plugs were never changed and with a set of plugs it will be fine. If the problem is the transmission, changing the fluid won't do anything, except of course ruin the transmission if the job's done wrong or the wrong fluid's used.

I'd tell him the change the plugs, don't touch the trans and if that doesn't solve the problem, I'd walk out of there.

Yes I believe him when he says the vibe is gone my real question is has anyone ever flushed at such HIGH mileage and had it last?

I own a 07 Expy El.
If I had it to do over- bet I would not do it again.

I bought mine with a clean carfax. All regular oil changes. Truck babies and pampered since manufactured. Blah blah blah!!!

Everyone keeps talking about upgrading the plugs. All the info I could find keeps telling me that I'm just stuck with the style that breaks off when removing the plugs. Supposedly the style wasn't changed till '08. My luck!
When I changed the plugs the two back plugs (one on each side) broke off. I already had purchased the Lyle tool for the removal of broken plugs is I did get them out.
So- $85.00 for the Lyle tool, and of course high dollar for the OEM plugs.
Next up- I begin getting a rattle during start ups. This just started. Throwing codes for misfire, Cam Sensors, etc..
Low and behold- research points to the Cam Phasers (yet another coinkydink with the 5.4 Mod engine).
More research tells me that I really need to use OEM Cam Phasers ($600.00) because all the aftermarket Cam Phasers ($145.00) start messing up in short order after install. Or- I can buy the specific aftermarket Cam Phasers that are locked in position (which will require a specific Tune $300.00) which comes out to about $600 for these Cam Phasers and the Tune.

So- I purchased the OEM Ford Cam Phasers and installed them (along with the timing chain/guides/tensioners. Cleared the codes. Runs and acts fine. No more rattle on start up. All is well with the world. Lol!

Two weeks later: Starts throwing codes for misfire. Cam Sensors. I want to puke!
Research says I should if changed my VTC Ssnsors/solenoids.
So- back into the engine I go. Changed both of those. Also changed both Cam Sensors. Clears the codes. Truck running great again.

10 days later:
Start noticing my temp gauge not working as UT was. Fluctuating.
I change my thermostadt. No change.
I research. Find out I may need to look into the Temp Sensor.
Voila! Its under the intake. Imagine that!
Back into engine I go. Changed the Temp Sensor.
Yep- temp gauge working as it should.

Yesterday: Rear heat not working. Blower us working, but no heat. Guess what? I have a bad heater core in the rear.
As of this minute I have not installed the greater core because I haven't ordered it yet.

All I do now (every single time I start my truck) is wonder what's next'.
And every time I read on this forum I see everyone posting how they're not happy with this or that. Older generation/newer generation they all seem to be someone's pain in the ass.

So the point of all this rant is that I think you should run away from buying that Expy. Run away from buying ANY Expy! They ALL seem to have flaws or quirks or don't perform as expected. All complaining about this or that on all of them.

I really.could keep going with more. But the point is the same. DON'T DO IT!!!
