Yes this was a drain and fill. My Jag XJR has the same ZF 6 speed (Virtually) and I did a full flush and fill at 130k and now have 145k HARD miles never shifted better. This truck also had some paint issues, and the drivers side carpet has a monster tear along where it meets the console, just seemed sketchy over all.

Yup, already found a deal almost too good to be true. I'll post when the deal is done.

Flushing has a bad rap nowadays. There is a valve that won't let it circulate unless it's very hot plus it takes a lot more fluid. I just dropped the pan, got it level and re-filled mine. I used 4 portable ramps to get it level. The filter had a recent date on it and it was squeaky clean inside so I just left it in. Some filters are "lifetime" like on my old Excursion.

I had a BMW 735i the tranny lasted me 295,***. I did the drain and fill every 50k.

My 1st gen I have power flushed every 30k-50k, I have 220,*** and it shifts smooth as silk.

Go figure.

No idea. Maybe never. Just bought it, no service records. Everyone I've asked told me don't flush it because it can cause more problems than it solves.

I've often heard that, but don't know of any real cases.
FWIW, in the auto maintenance classes I've taken, I was taught that if a problem appears after a fluid change, it's because the old fluid was hiding it, assuming the right fluid, filter, etc. if a fluid change reveals issues, it means you need at least a trans checkup, sooner rather than later.

Fluid change and flush are two different things. A fluid change without churning up buildup inside probably isn't going to cause issues. A flush could. This is for high mileage low maintenance vehicles though. If it's been done regularly through the life of the vehicle then it shouldn't have much in the way of buildup.

Real case here. My wife's Mazda was flushed at 220k and it blew out the seals. Obviously, that indicates the trans wasn't in great shape to begin with, but had we just done a drain/fill maybe we would have gotten another year or two out of the old girl.
