Previous owner lost remotes. I bought this remote off eBay. I don’t see a Ford or any markings on the back, so aftermarket knockoff I guess. It programmed no trouble. Locks,Unlocks,Rear Glass Release, Panic all work, but Lift Gate ignores the remote. Today the dash button worked(always has), Rear interior button worked(always has), and the outside hatch handle button worked(previously was hit miss) but this keyless remote doesn’t operate hatch and never has. I’ve tried different combinations of pressing button 2 or 3 times quickly or pressing unlock first then hatch button. Nothing.

Is it the wrong remote model, knockoff remote doesn’t actually have hatch button signal, or problem with keyless receiver?

Should work. Some people have had luck resetting the system after they get a new FOB. Disconnect the battery ground cable for 10 minutes or so to reset the system. Maybe that'll help. It fixes some weird stuff. Or you can pop the FOB apart and see if there's an actual actuation button on the circuit board for that liftgate button to press.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are you sure you have a power liftgate? Just asking as I have seen others ask why the remote start on the new remote doesn't work only to find out they didn't have remote start on the vehicle.

I mentioned the dash, rear panel, and outside handle power lift gate buttons all work in the original post.

I’m thinking I bought the wrong ones.

customer reviews and Q&A mention inop pwr lift gate buttons with incorrect button style paired with incorrect year model. Some say 2003-11 is all the same, some have 07 & 08 as being different. The one on the right is supposedly an 08, but my 08 was manufactured in Sept 07. I hate to waste money, but guess I’ll order the other pair and maybe it will work. If not I’ll take the keyless hatch glass output and relay it to signal the pwr hatch circuit because I have no use for remote glass release.
