Thought I found long tubes that fit but due to discrepancies in info will confirm before I post.

Sorry.

Remanufactured shortys off of what? The stock exhaust manifold is a completely different design plus all the shorties are different depending on which manufacture. Out of all the ones I have seen I prefer the eldebrock shorties as these appear to have the smoothest transition but also expensive.

I apologize, Im talking about the ones for my year 3rd gen. Gibson is the only one that makes them

Regardless of F-150 vs Expo, that brand of header, OBX, is junk. Welds are complete crap and look like they were done by a 12 yr old which they likely were since these come right from China. I had a pair for a 5.0 Mustang and not only did they not clear the factory K member brace, they had completely wrong sized AND shaped ports for the application. Headers had oval ports and 5.0s have a square exhaust port on the heads.

You get what you pay for and OBX stuff is junk.

I got a hold of Gibson about the only headers they list for Expeditions which state they will fit up to 2010. They responded and said that if I used these headers on my 2011 that I would have emissions problems. Not sure if they are saying they would leak (unlikely) or that I'd fail an emissions test. Hard to imagine failing the test just for having better flow, but I guess they'd know. I just want a good reliable replacement for the stock manifolds which I keep burning up after big long hauls. Any ideas?

Thats bc the shorty header is a remanufactured factory header, yet people still buy them:nono:their is no research and developement into them. They take the factory one off, cast it, and copy it. Then sell it as a performance header. They did this with the G37 and people caught on real quick.

what's your source for that? the only shorty header's I've ever seen were clearly not "remanufactured factory header," ... by any chance were you referring to an exhaust manifold? if not, which "factory header" are you talking about? in my experience factory headers are few and far between. I'm sure there were others, but the only one I can remember was the early Ford 427.

your statement that "heir is no research and developement into them. [shorty headers]" is just utter ********. again, please provide a source.
I've done a lot of research on the matter, because I'm working on upgrading my truck, and I've learned that shortys are typically meant to increase torque, whereas long tube headers usually increase power. those are a couple of very general statements but they are generally correct. so your assertions caught my eye.

You're arguing a post from literally a decade ago to a guy that hasn't been on this forum in 6 years. o_O

Years ago I went the coated JBA shorty header route on my 97 5.4 (true headers with 4-into-1 design). According to the shop, it was simple plug and play with no issues. Compared to the ticking factory manifolds, the shortys really woke up the truck, giving it a really strong pull from idle to about 3000rpm. Almost as if I had done an aggressive final drive swap. The factory exhaust sound also got slightly deeper.

As for emissions, no issues, no significant change even in the percentages or ppm counts. I would think coated headers would actually improve emissions because the coating keeps the heat in and the cats reach their working temperature faster.
