I'm soon to purchase both an upper and lower intake manifold for my 01' Expy.

First question is if anyone knows if this is a reputable brand for the upper intake manifold? I've seen cheaper ones floating around but I understand that you get what you pay for.

My second question is about the Intake Tuning Valve that sits in front of the lower intake. The new lower intake doesn't come with the circular tuning valve, as you can see in the second link. I can't find a part number for it and there's not a match for it anywhere. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Here it is:

Best vid on doing it, this guy is a great Ford technician!

I did mine and got a no name brand from rock auto, looked good and was best of the bunch, gaskets can't be replaced on these and often have sealing issues within a year. the FoMoCo is the only one to use! Best of luck. Ebay has some good deals on decent coil packs with the Motorcraft plugs, don't use any other plug on the truck. I'd def get new coils while you're in there.

Best of luck!

Out of curiosity, I had thought I had heard that the aluminum manifold off of a 99 F-150 would work as a replacement. Has anyone heard of this?

Ulver always state the motor you're working on. The air valve you're looking for is applicable to the 4.6L motor only. I think most people will assume you have a 5.4L motor unless you specify otherwise. What is your intake manifold doing that you need to replace it ?
Well, every year since I've had this vehicle I've had to deal with the intake manifold in some way, and this year I believe one of the reasons for my gas mileage and low power issue is from a vacuum leak from the manifold. It's an assumption based on fuel trim readings, but I'm finding the links for the parts now before I come to that conclusion. I really think it's the plastic lower intake manifold.. I'll be doing a smoke test just to verify, but I figure why not just get the parts ready just in case.

Can anyone provide a parts number, or a viable alternative. I need to replace the lower intake on a 2001 Expy 4.6L. The issue with the one I have is the metallic inserts are stripping out; no longer hold tension and can’t get proper torque values! If anyone has a general idea on repairing the metal to plastic inserts, well I’d be all ears for that too!
Thanks, All

W~
