So I installed an amp and sub in my 97 XLT. I used one of those amp installation kits which had a 60A fuse. So I installed the fuse and after starting the engine several times.I noticed that the fuse was burned already when my amp didn’t turn on. I saw a 60A breaker on Amazon for like $10 so I thought maybe I should put that on to protect the amp. It pops almost every time I start her up. My amp seems to be fine. It has a 30A fuse built in. I’m just curious why it keeps popping. Should I keep the breaker? Any suggestions?

do you have a drawing of how you wired the amp, fuse, etc. Without that information it's near impossible to troubleshoot or make any suggestions for a fix.

I don’t have a drawing. I put the breaker in between the battery and the amp. I used the red 8 gauge wire that came in the kit that was labeled for power. Does this help at all?

That doesn't help me understand how it's wired. can you make a wiring sketch? What doesn't make sense is that the 60 amp fuse is blowing before the 30 amp fuse that you say is built in to the amplifier. That's why a sketch would be helpful. I made my living troubleshooting electrical/electronic circuits and without a diagram it's near impossible to know how the components are tied together.
