They are nice guys. I also think like so many they have material shortages right now. I can tell you they worked, and worked quite well outside of a couple variations I made. I'm not sure there is anything out there that will compare quality and durability wise. Its probably easier to go with the one from FX4, but I don't believe that goes past the tranny. So just depends on what you're looking for. Unfortunately, after my exhaust work lately, I've become very adept at removing/reinstalling these, and man they are heavy. Like .5mpg less heavy (maybe).

If you do go with RCI, here's what I found worked best. I actually bought the full plate package for the 15-21' F150, but ended up buying the 2nd engine piece from 09-14' F150 later, as Tim stated it was just a little longer which made it line up easier. All three of the other pieces fit well, and as stated, for the front piece I added one additional bolt in the center using a factory speed nut/hole in the cross member but had to drill two holes in the plates. Not necessary but it ensure it wouldn't rattle on the cross member ever. I also had to drill one hole for the transfer case plate on the frame rail near the step bars. Not super hard but drilling through all that burned through my step bit for sure! happy to take pics again if you want to see some.

I think if you decide to proceed, calling again and asking to build a package that way would be easiest. He might even remember my conversation with him...
So, my major concern has been not knowing what the structural differences of the Standard vs MAX actually are in regards to the frame. MAX is approximately 12" longer (see tech specs.pdf for specifics) and the "stretch" happens starting behind the front seats. But how does that effect the frame and its positioning to hold the plates? Wouldn't be surprised to find out I'm overthinking this, but is there specific measuring I can do in advance of ordering?

So I’m personally leaning towards trying the FX4. Two reasons - lighter and likely an easy fit. I’m looking to cover the engine only right now.

In San Diego I’d only do a little light off-road and snow in Tahoe.

I do have part numbers (provider here) for the 2019 FX4 but I’d like to see if I can get the 2020 FX4 plates just to ensure the best fit. But it’s likely the parts are the same as the 2019.

So I called two local part dealers and one online OEM Ford parts provider. Amazingly they all said they need a vin num of a 2020 FX4 Expedition because their system is driven by that first question. They can’t just search my make and model?? Crazy.

Tried searching the web for a vehicle that’s for sale and found none.

if anyone out there has an FX4 could you pass me the vin number? You could privately send it for confidentiality if that helps :)

Heres the quote below from the online provider for 2019.

Yes both the RCI version and the below schematic from Ford has an access hole for the filter - not sure about the drain plug.

On the RCI, the hole in the plate is for the drain plug, and to make things easier I put a Fumoto valve on so it pours straight down. I know others on here like different brands of valves but the premise is the same. However, on the RCI, you have to remove the front plate which is actually super simple, to replace the filter. Takes all of 5 minutes or less, to remove the two back bolts (three in my case), and loosen to the front ones, the plate slides down off of the front bolts and comes right off. I think the FX4 plate is the same, because of where the filter is situated, you'd be losing quite a bit of strength/protection to have a hole large enough there for the filter. Definitely a trade off.

I don't believe the frame rails and/or cross members, which are used to mount these items, change on the max. In fact, for example, I just put a magnaflow exhaust on, and it is identical for the non-max and max, until you get past the muffler where they include an extension pipe for installation after the muffler. I could be wrong, but that seems to line up with other parts as well.

Thanks @5280tunage. Was hoping someone was aware of a schematic for the frames but I sure couldn't find one. Believe you are right in all probability.

Just seems like the cascading effect of the frames being different in that area would defeat the goal of reducing costs. You'd have to have different tranny mounts, downpipes, you name it since everything is mounted down there. Again, I could be wrong but I think that's what we've found. In fact, I think its even the same on the Navi's (but happy to be wrong here too).

My 16 Exped has the fiber diaper. My 20 yr old Durango does not have a diaper. Hope that helps!
