Well just found out I have a small rear main seal leak in my 2019 with only 21,000 kms. Not looking forward to the repair. Honestly don't have a ton of faith in my local dealer, and he's the only one in town. Sounds like a pretty big job. Anything in particular I should be looking out for after repair? Thanks

Is there a Lincoln dealer reasonably close? I'm pretty sure that they can do Ford warranty work as well, and they are familiar with the expectations of "particular owners."

It is a big repair. Lots of stuff needs to be removed. If you don't have confidence in your local dealer I'd for sure go elsewhere even if it's a distance. Last thing you want is for the repair not to be done right.

So your options are:

1. You let the local dealership give it a try cause you still got powertrain warranty till 2024/100,000km(unless you upgraded that?). Then you have the possibility of repeating issues, or the creation of more issues if the job isn’t done right.

2. You travel to another dealership. I know all about this, I’ve recently moved to southern Manitoba but when I was in the north, the only dealership was a 3 hour drive, and that dealership was lucky to have a single tech show up most days.

Now that I am in the south, I use Steeltown Ford in Selkirk without any issue, they’ve been great. But if it was me, I’d be willing to travel to find a trustworthy dealership if you plan on keeping your Expedition for a long time.

Yes closest one is Roblin, but I've never been in their doors, so don't know if they're any better. Brandon is the next closest. But to be fair, I haven't actually had anything done at this Ford, I've only really dealt with the parts department when trying to order new rims and tires for my Cadillac and this Expy, well let's just say I have yet to get a quote! Caddy was about 4 years ago, Expy was end of 2019!

They've already ordered the parts, so guess we'll give it a go! I deliver there almost every day, so may just have a chat with the service manager.

Wow, 4 years... its hard to find a good parts department. Bought a used truck from Roblin in 2017. Only experience I have with any of those dealerships. At least you still have warranty, so if your local dealership screws it up, it’s not like you gotta pay for it. I guess its worth it to let them give it a shot.

Before you replace that rear main, make sure that's the problem. If you had your oil changed recently and the oil was overfilled, it could be leaking due having too much oil in it. My son just had that very problem with his older Explorer. He noticed it was leaking onto his driveway. The driveway is slightly uphill and it only seemed to be leaking when it was parked there. I suggested that he park with the front end pointing downhill to see if that made a difference (thinking that would only stop the leaking while parked in his driveway and with the idea that he would probably have to change the rear main). He did that and noticed that it stopped leaking. Finally he made sure the oil level was correct by checking it on level ground and it was overfull. He then changed the oil and filled it to the correct level and has not had an issue with even when parked uphill it since then.
