Buenos Noches,

Searching has lead me to some pretty sad threads where this question has been occasionally asked- but never answered as far as I can tell. The best general consensus I can find without any valid proof, is that a 35" tire will not fit the stock tire location whereas a 33"-ish tire might???

I'm set to attempt replacing my factory spare with a newly acquired 285/70/17 full size spare matching my set up and I know it will be a tight squeeze. The tow package electrical hookups near the tow hitch appear to be one issue that might compromise maximum fit.

If you happen to be reading instead of indulging in tacos, cervezas or tequila (a better choice than this), please let me know your experience trying to fit a big circle in a round hole.

I'll post my experience soon. Just want to get a new discussion going!

Salud!

Alright, since my Cinco de Mayo post failed to launch, I'll try one bump to see if anyone knows...

What's the largest diameter tire that will fit in the spare tire location?

My yardstick on my 2002 measures around 32 and 5/8 inches from trackbar to tow hitch. Currently I have a 26570R17 mounted underneath measuring a diameter of a tad over 31and 1/2 inch giving me about an inch to spare no pun intended. I believe a fully inflated 28570R17 tire measures a tad under 32 and 3/4 inch, which leaves you an 1/8 inch short. You could squeeze it in if you underinflated it but that may defeat the purpose. Yours being, I believe, a 2009 could be different, as well as tread wear, suspension/ tow packages could alter this areas sizing.

I’m not sure if my link works- but I finally got my full sized 285/70/17 fitted in the factory spare space, with only millimeter(s) of space remaining. I feel great about the fit, since I did not have to cut any metal, and makes me feel better about my choice not going bigger as it would have forced the dilemma of cutting, undersized spare, or relocating full sized spare.

As further reference, I have a 2009 Limited. I have Ford Raptor 17X8.8 take offs.
