I’m loaded up ready for my Hatfield’s-n-McCoy’s ATV trip in 4 days from now. This is the only way I could fit all of them on this 16’-8” Triton trailer. Last trip I hauled my friends Can Am Defender up front with the 90 Srambler I bought for the grandkids and my Camo 800 Outlander behind it. This trip I bought my own side x side, the Can Am Maverick 1000 R Xxc and I had to pull it on the back. I decided since I just bought this machine used (even though it only has 243 miles on it), I don’t know how reliable it is gonna be. So I’m taking mine and the wife’s 800’s for backups. There is also the possibility I’ll need a break from the wife’s back seat driving in the buggy and I’ll go lone wolf on my 4-wheeler. Lol.... I’m anxious to see how well the Expy tows with them in this order. The last trip with the buggy up front it felt like a parachute pulling on me, but it didn’t struggle at all, it just got 9-10 mpg. Maybe it will make less drag in this order? Well I’ll find out and report back on mpg’s and drag feel. I probably have more weight this time with the 2 bigger 4-wheelers, even though the Maverick is lighter than the Defender. I think the Maverick has a lower roof line though and may draft better.

So I made it back with no issues on the road or trails. I went 638 mi. round trip and averaged 10.7 mpg towing from Capon Bridge WV down I-81 to Pocahontas VA and back. I’d say my average speed on the Interstate was somewhere between 75-80 mph. It pulled like a train and rode like a cloud. What a great highway hauler! It’s funny you mentioned that. I was thinking of that today while at work. I’m glad someone else thought the same. That is where the dealer set it. I thought it was one hole too low.

Yeah, I had a dealer do mine after I originally installed it and it still wasn't correct. Took me a good year of trips tweaking it to get it right where I wanted. And even now it's still a work in progress. I too have an Equalizer WDH. From your picture it looks like they choked up the arm lifting bracket pretty far forward toward the truck. It may be because of some obstruction on your trailer. I just recently moved mine to the exact Equalizer recommended position but had to reposition some wiring brackets to do so. By having that bracket further back where it's supposed to be the WDH is able to transfer more weight to the trailer axles as the way I understand it.

I'm on 7 washers now but may put in the 8th again and try to transfer more weight onto my front axle. Last time I did that it got a little squirrlly, but I've been playing with reposition weight in the camper to get to an ideal tongue weight and need to try the 8th washer adjustment again.

I was thinking about those arm brackets. I was not sure I could move them further back. I just assumed they were optimally out there. I will try moving the brackets back as long as the battery tray between the frame rails doesn’t interfere. I am at 8 washers. Front end feels a tad light. So perhaps if I raise the hitch and brackets up one hole and if I have room move the brackets further back my truck will feel perfect. It feels good right now. But like you had noticed. It looks like there is room for improvements for sure. I appreciate your input and thank you. Any and all recommendations I’ll listen to.

When I bought the trailer and WDH back in March. I had asked for the 1,000lb system to be installed. I did not notice when I left the dealer. The trailer was unbearable driving back. It was very difficult driving 55mph. Of course I knew I needed better tires and perhaps sumo springs for a bit of help. It was three days later I noticed the 800lb WDH was installed. I took it back to the dealer a few weeks later. They made some adjustments on the 800lbs system and it improved very little. The dealer removed that and installed the 1000lb WDH and it was night and day difference. I was finally able to drive home 60-65mph with strong winds. Of course with the tires and sumo springs I’ve been able to go up to 75mph just for ***** and giggles as to see how stable it was. So overal I’m pretty happy. But with your recommendations along with what I’ve been debating. I think I’m on the right track for even more improvements.

Perhaps after I raise the system up one hole. Maybe I can remove a washer and use 7 instead of 8. ??????

Won't know till you try. Regarding the 7 vs 8 washers just make sure the front end spacing of the truck returns to as close as it is when not hooked up.

If you haven't already, take your set up when prepared for a trip and go and use a CAT scale. It'll really tell you what's going on regarding how good your set up is.
