Gee, really don't want to get into a ******* match with anyone!...But JR pretty much describes a 32' trailer loaded to the max...Regardless of weight, the wind shear force on a 32' X 9' "wall" of a trailer, going down the road at 60+ MPH, is really high, IMO (no engineer here)...The short wheelbase and weight of even a MAX EXPY would be overwhelmed easily...I just don't want to be on the same road as "that" guy!...
The side profile isn't really 32 feet. My trailer is 33' feet. Something like 3 - 5 feet of that is the part of the frame that sticks out beyond the living space along with the rear bumper. Also, the front is curved, so it's not presenting a full side profile to the wind. I've traveled from CA to TX and to FL, NM, and all over TX. I've driven in windy conditions, particularly in West Texas, between Houston and College Station, and in the Lubbock area. As others have noted, it handles fine if you slow down. I dropped my speed from 65 down to 55 - 60 and didn't have any issues with lane keeping or sway at those speeds in windy conditions. No one is immune from high winds, as even big rigs have been blown over. Obviously people need to use a measure of common sense when towing, no matter what tow vehicle they're using. But trailers these size are within the capability of the Expedition.
