Is there a place in the under hood fuse box to add a 10awg output? I’m about to install an electric scooter lift in the back of my 2008 Expedition. It will ground to the body at the rear, but I’ve bought a 10awg power line to run from the battery to the rear. I’ve read online that these lifts can parasitic draw and I should use the main off switch. But I thought I might use a relay that takes its trigger from the delayed accessory circuit, so when I unlock the doors, the lift will have power again.

I can’t add a fused wire right onto the positive battery cable, but I’d rather have it in the under hood fuse box if possible.

This is a great question. I'm tagging so I can see responses easier. I haven't tried / needed to do anything like you're suggesting on a vehicle newer than ~ 1995, so I don't want to give you an answer that would screw up the factory computer, etc.

That was supposed to read CAN add, not can’t. Edit function has already been taken away.

Only the 4 wire is visible by the receiver. I haven’t checked to see what trailer wiring is back there. Is the +12V in the 7 constant or switched with ignition? I’d need constant

i inserted a male connector then fused it

Fuse it at the battery + post and if worried about a parasitic draw use a relay. I add accessories to vehicles all the time this way in our business and you are correct to ground it to the chassis. I have corrected many installs where the ground went back to the battery - post.

Thanks guys!!
I’m going to use a relay triggered by the accessory reserve circuit or battery saver or what ever it’s call that kills power about 30 minutes or so after the key is turned off.
