Can you make a little youtube video with your phone and post it? That can help a lot.

Could simply be a loose stone kicked up into a heat shield.

Hey Neighbor,
  1. Check both your Catalytic Converters Heat Shields. A temporary fix can be to crimp the 3/4" tabs back and or tack weld them.
  2. Check the Catalytic Converters if clogged or blocked. Usually causes a engine type knock, and or engine performance issues. Replace if needed.
  3. Listen to your Muffler. See if it sounds like it's coming from the Muffler. The baffles may have let go inside. Causes no issue except the noise. Replace
I'm assuming you're in Dorchester, Roxbury, or Southie. Not handy with exhaust repairs? Head over to Lou's Custom Exhaust on Park Street in Stoughton, Ma. You'll get honest repairs, good pricing, and at least a two year warranty on almost all work. You'll get what you need fixed rather than being told you need more in repairs to make a bigger repair bill.

I had the same sound. It was a band on the heat shield by the transmission. Evidently, this is common for Ford. I was able to replace it by installing a stainless hose clamp ( I believe a 2” ) and that took care of the issue.
