Bought new in 11/16,
I build high performance 2 stroke engines as a hobby so I'm pretty well versed in most engine related issues and how to keep them alive.
I buy my own oil and have the Grease & Go change it for me for 30-40 bucks.
I used the Ford syn 5-30 until 60K then switched to the same Mobil 1 syn 0-40 that I use in my supercharged car. My oil is changed on time, every time. Nothing is more important to the life of an engine than clean oil, period. I could do a little Mobil 1 commercial at this point by posting pics of 200K mile cams that appear to have less than 30K on them, but I won't.
After having the rear begin to "clunk" for a while at 38K, I replaced the rear grease & added the "Ford additive" and filled with Mercury Quicksilver lower end grease= "Clunk" gone.
At 60K I checked the front brakes and rotated the tires for the 2nd time, no action taken.
Spark plugs were replaced around 75 or 80K. They were wasted. HEI's take their toll on plugs.
At 92K, I replaced the original tires with stock tires....why wouldn't I, their rain performance is good and the originals lasted 92k and I corner it hard.
I also had them replace the rear brakes at that time.
The Throttle body is original and has been cleaned 3 times and it's due again. I use MAF cleaner.
I use motorcycle chain oil on my running board motors/linkages once or twice a year, no issues at all of course. If you know how this stuff works, you will know it's perfect for this application.
At 117K I replaced the front rotors and brakes, searching for the cause of a hard "wobble when applying brakes hard from high speed. It made no difference at all....still chasing the cause. Remember, I am an "engine guy"...with no clue for this....Experts? Is there a steering stab?
Broken things;
1- center console hinge spring. Replacement cost used on fleabay- 35 bucks!
1 or 2 rear tail light bulbs
Nothing else, nothing!
I am getting an average mileage of 18.5 since new(I left one of the tripmeters alone) and most tanks still return 19 mpg if I'm in a relaxed mood....18 is what I see if I'm not....lol
The truck still has great power probably because it's never used(LOL).....I run it through the gears once in a great while but I've got 6 other tagged vehicles that will all dust this truck so there's no real point in beating it like I stole it.
I've d/l'ed but never installed the updated Sync so I'm beginning to see some map issues..like new roads not being shown, etc....but my display works perfectly as does every other item in the truck.
I never wash my truck but the inside stays immaculate. I like a clean interior so I use the rubber mat on my side for everyday driving and my carpet floor mat as does my carpet still looks brand new. I say I never wash my truck but actually did this past Sunday, the 1st time in 2 years.
I park my truck under a canopy but tend to hit the post on the inside when parking...but the Magic Eraser deleted 95% of my sins and the paint overall is awesome.....hardly no dings, no chips, even on the front of the hood! There are two chips in the Magnetic dark grill and one on the front lower cowling that has been there forever....that's it, in 120K of highway miles mostly. I guess that extra 800 bucks we paid for the "Titanium" paint was an actual value?
This is my 3rd expedition. I have my choice in what I drive and I chose to buy each of them over any other reasonable vehicle available. My kids are all long grown and "mostly" gone. I drive them because I won't die if hit and a full sized motorcycle fits inside of it in a pinch(I hate pickups). I've been telling Kerry for years, size matters.
I've logged over half a million miles driving them and this one is the best by far, in every respect.
Just my experience, yours may differ............and I may be back next week crying that my tranny broke....but for today, "it's all good".
