First post but not first Expedition.
Recently, my wife and I decided to trade her 2018 Wrangler for our current Expedition. Our last Expedition was a 2015 Limited.
To be honest, I haven't kept up with the 4th gen as I didn't expect we would be buying one. But we saw ours on a used car lot and the trade value they put on her Wrangler was unexpected.
Her Jeep was a Sahara that we lifted with a Mopar lift and ran 315's. Aside from that, I drive a 2018 F250 FX4 Crewcab that's leveled with 325 60's on fuel wheels. In the garage is her "favorite" Jeep that is a summer only ride. 98 TJ with you guessed it- a 4" Zone lift and 33's. Rounding out the stable are two foxbody Mustangs.
That led into this- she wants to lift the Expedition. She misses the height of her Wrangler and while we wont be trail riding the Expedition, we do live in a very rural area and we just like our 4x4's with some height.
Our Expedition is a 2019 Stealth package. It is truly incredible- big jump from the 2015 we used to own. She is in the middle of narrowing out her wheel choices but we have settled on the readylift as it addresses the CCD suspension.
So what we are trying to do is just turn the expy less from a street oriented machine with its beautiful 22's to more of a brawny SUV with some height and better suited rubber and ground clearance.
Here's where I could use some thoughts.
1. I have done what research I could on this forum and others to get fitment correct. It looks like a +18 or +20 offset is our best chance of zero rubbing. Correct statement?
2. We are torn on 18" or 20" wheels. Any personal thoughts on what "suits" the Expedition best?
3. If an 18" I am leaning a 295 70 and a 20" likely a 285 65. Does this seem the best route?
4. 3.31 gears (bummer)- how well does the expy tolerate 2-3" larger tires? I expect I will buy a tuner to correct the speedo, disable the auto stop, and add a little more oomph to compensate for the tires. The Jeep had 3.45 gears and it actually didn't do bad with 35's. But 8th gear in the trans was basically useless. The expy has obviously a lot more power (torque). I just "wish" we had 3.73's.
I think that's all of my questions for now. I don't want to completely screw up the drivability. Tires will be no more than an aggressive AT. I just want to get any feedback from the experts before I start buying parts. I will admit it was alot easier researching this stuff with the F250 and the Wranglers. Lots of pictures and information out there. The expy- not as much. But that's what's exciting. I have never see in person a lifted Expedition and it will be unique.
Thanks in advance

35” tires on a readylift 3/2 with +20s should fit. Go to customwheeloffset.com to the gallery and look at other expeditions to see what others have done. Gives all the specs on many other 4th gens. Your speedo will be off by about 6mph but with 3.31 and 35” tires a tune isn’t gonna give you much back, it’ll correct your mph and give you some power but nothing crazy with 91 octane. They are heavy, so unless you go ethanol don’t expect it to have anywhere near the same amount of get up and go.

I did Icon lift and 34s. Couldn't possibly be happier with the results in terms of look and performance. Wish I'd done it all the first week I had the truck.

1. 18mm is what I run but it depends on your tire size for rubbing.

2. Personal choice really unless you will be off roading a lot with it then 18s will give you more sidewall plus little better ride. I went with 18s on my platinum down from the 22s that came stock.

3. I went with 275/70/18s no rub or trimming needed even on stock suspension with the +18mm offset. Probably won't hurt doing a 295 but might rub from being slightly wider but highly doubt it.

4. I have the 3.73 gears and honestly couldn't tell any difference in drivability compared to stock even going up 2 inches in tire size. With the 10 speed and how it skips gears so much I doubt you would notice any change really.

Also loaded a pick with the 3/2 installed and 18" wheels +18mm offset on 275 70 18 tires to give you an idea of look on 18s.

Some great feedback folks and I am digging your expeditions. I have also went to the lifted thread to get some more inspiration. They look great with just a little more ground clearance.

I took the plastic piece off of the bottom of the front bumper and it gives it a good 4” of more ground clearance, not even including the 3” lift.

^same. I'm sitting on -12mm offset, LT285/65/18"x9". My E (10 ply) rated tires+rims weigh 95 lbs each (30lbs-ish heavier than OEM). I occasionally run the stock tires/rims. I have the 3.31 rear-end and am running a 5star tune. I can tell a big difference in getup & go going back to OEM tire/rim setup. I am running the lifted Bilstein struts (2"& 1/2" lift | front/rear). The next set of rims will be +18mm offset! -12mm causes this thing to wonder during hard turns under heavy acceleration.
