I've searched this forum but can't find a definitive answer. I have stock 22's now and am looking at either upgrading to 295 or 305 so any guidance would be appreciated. As I'll be tuning my car the 114 MPH limit on my current tires scares me a bit so really after higher speed rating for a street / all season tire. Lastly if I can go to 305 should the side wall be 45 or 40? I know going +1 is safe (so 295) but I'd like to go as wide as possible if I'm going to do this.

Thanks in advance.

If you search there are post about this. Yes I have been running a 305/45/22 Toyo AT3 on my stock 22’s for the past year or so. I’ve never noticed any rubbing when driving, but when I did my last rotation I noticed a small spot on the frame where they have apparently touched it at full lock at some point to knock the dirt film off, but not enough to get to bare metal. Other than that no issues for me.

Just FYI if you install aftermarket wheels…..the rear axles extend several inches past the axle nut making it difficult to install any wheel that is concave even a little bit. I have no idea why Ford extended the axle past the nut. The extended axle portion must be cut off to install many aftermarket wheels. I had to do this to put DUB 8-ball wheels with 22” tires. A real pain to cut that extended portion of the axle to get the wheels to fit.

Thanks to all. Will be keeping my standard 22" wheels so it sounds like if I go 305/40/22 (vs. 45) there should be no issues with rubbing. Give up a bit of sidewall to gain/insure tire clearance at full wheel lock. Thanks very much.

Did you do any lift with shocks or the ready lift kit? Loved those at3 on our f250.

I have those GG UHP tires on my Expedition in 23" size. I use them for summers only and stock 22" with stock size winter tires.

The GG are fine, no issues. They do not have a high mileage rating though being 320 treadwear rating. I may only get two summers out of the tires. I would have considered other tires but 23" tires are so limited.

So, if you are looking at these based on a lower price point, I'd look at others which may last you longer. Could be a better decision longterm, that is unless you don't plan on doing too many miles.
