Hi!
2000 Expedition with 4.6l engine, 4WD.
Recently, I noticed a shudder (it feels like road surface vibration) when transmission downshifts going 65-70 mph after applying gas (as in passing or going uphill). The shudder goes away after I lift off the gas. It has similar shudder (but much lighter) at 40-45 mph WITHOUT downshifting. the shudder seems to shake the steering wheel similarly to when lower ball joint(s) are loose. it does not happen every time. Somebody told me torque converter might be going, but I checked fluid and performed a test (rev it up and shift to R and D and listen/feel). Everything is fine. The fluid looks brand new, there are no clunks or grinding noises. Tranny shifts smooth as silk. About 7 years ago I had a tranny rebuilt with heavy duty bands (so now it's upgraded to that used with 5.8l engines), and the bearing in torque converter replaced. Last month I had a drive shaft u-joint replaced.
Any thoughts?

My 03 Navigator was doing the same thing a while back. Added one tube of LubeGard Instant Shudder fix. After a couple days it never came back. Sold it about 30k miles later. Still was fine with no issues.
